To enhance their visual ability, their thinking and problem-solving skills our Grade 6 students explored the construction of angles (60, 30, 120 and 45degrees) using a compass and a ruler(straightedge) only. They appreciated the usefulness of a compass and ruler to create angles without a protractor. They also used their previous knowledge of compass usage and properties of shapes ( like equilateral triangle, isosceles triangle). Students thoroughly enjoyed this activity as it gave an opportunity to understand and learn by doing.
