India is predominantly an agricultural country, and agriculture is the main source of income as a backbone for India's economic development. Farmers' Day is celebrated every year on 23 December, on the birthday of the 5th Prime Minister of India, Choudhary Charan Singh, also a farmer's leader, who introduced many policies to improve the lives of the Indian farmers. To pay him tribute, the government in 2001 decided to celebrate his birth anniversary as National Farmers' Day. This Day is celebrated to promote awareness among the country's citizens to understand the importance of the contribution by the farmers in society for the country's overall economic and social development. Presidians celebrated this Day with great enthusiasm to praise the farmers as they are the spine of India. Students showcased this through their posters and slogans.
